Woodward UA201100 U-Joint – .750-20 Spline x 3/4″ Weld-On
The Woodward UA201100 U-joint is a professional steering universal joint designed for motorsport, competition and high-performance steering systems.
This version combines the Woodward 201 .750″-20 spline with a Woodward 100 3/4″ weld-on connection, allowing the joint to be incorporated directly into a custom steering shaft assembly.
Woodward U-joints are designed for applications where strength, accuracy, compact dimensions and minimal rotational play are critical.
Connection Specifications
| Specification | Side 1 | Side 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Woodward connection | 201 | 100 |
| Type | Splined | Weld-on |
| Size | .750″-20 spline | 3/4″ shaft |
| Application | Woodward spline connection | Welded steering shaft connection |
Woodward 201 Spline
The 201 profile is Woodward’s .750″-20 spline used throughout its professional steering component range.
It is important not to select a U-joint based solely on nominal diameter and spline count. The Woodward 201 spline is a specific spline profile, and compatibility with non-Woodward .750″-20 components should always be verified before installation.
Woodward 100 Weld-On Connection
The 100 connection is designed for use with a 3/4″ steering shaft and provides a compact solution for fabricating a custom steering shaft assembly.
This makes the UA201100 particularly suitable where one end needs to connect directly to a Woodward component while the opposite end is permanently incorporated into the steering shaft.
Mechanical Specifications
| Specification | Value |

*Actual weight can vary slightly depending on the bore configuration.
Operating Angle
Although the joint can accommodate angular misalignment up to 32 degrees, Woodward recommends keeping the normal operating angle below 20 degrees.
Keeping the working angle as small as practical reduces angular velocity variation through the joint and contributes to smoother, more consistent steering operation.
For steering layouts requiring a larger change in direction, multiple U-joints and an intermediate steering shaft may be preferable.
Welding Information
The weld-on side of the UA201100 is intended to become a permanent part of the steering shaft assembly.
When welding the joint directly to the steering shaft, correct alignment and controlled heat input are essential. Excessive heat close to the bearing area can distort the joint and adversely affect bearing operation.
A full-circumference fillet weld should be used for the shaft connection. Plug or rosette welds close to the bearing bores should be avoided.
When multiple U-joints are used in one steering shaft, correct joint phasing should also be maintained.
