Woodward 201 – .750″-20 Spline
The Woodward 201 connection uses Woodward’s .750″-20 spline profile and is found on various components throughout the Woodward professional steering range.
Spline compatibility should never be determined by nominal diameter and tooth count alone. The actual spline geometry is critical for correct engagement.
For this reason, a generic .750″-20 component should not automatically be assumed to be compatible with a Woodward 201 spline.
Woodward 103 – .720″ 30-Tooth Spline
The opposite side of the UA201103 uses the Woodward 103 connection.
This spline has a nominal diameter of .720″ with 30 teeth and allows the U-joint to connect directly to steering components using the corresponding Woodward 103 profile.
When replacing an existing universal joint, always verify the diameter, number of teeth and spline profile before ordering.

Operating Angle
The UA201103 permits a maximum angular misalignment of 32 degrees, while an operating angle below 20 degrees is recommended for normal use.
Reducing the working angle helps minimise angular velocity variation through the universal joint and contributes to smooth and predictable steering operation.
For installations requiring a substantial change in steering shaft direction, an intermediate shaft with two correctly phased U-joints may be preferable to operating a single joint close to its maximum angle.
